Hummingbird Moth

Do you shop for your hummers? I do. At this time of year I'm looking for something to fill out the season. I think they apprecaite something different just as we do.

I am always adding tubular flowers

to the garden to entice them.

Along with the hummers came the hummingbird moth.

They favor the Plectranthus 'Mona Lavender' with its dark stems, lavender flowers, and deep green leaves with maroon undersides.
They and the bees like Torenia/Wishbone Flower as well.

  1. Lovely photos! I have yet to see one of these hummingbird moths in person, but you captured it beautifully!

  2. We have a number of hummingbird moths. They love the butterfly bush.

  3. What great pictures. Sometimes I start to follow those little hummingbird moths around with my camera, but they are quicker than I am! Congrats on catching them

  4. Donna, thank you for the pictures! I haven't seen H. moths this summer in my garden.

  5. Great shots, these are truly amazing creatures, was blowen away first time I saw one.

  6. It's been a great year for the Clearwings around here. I've never seen so many.

Great shots capturing the wings. I've yet to manage getting one that shows the 'clear wing'.

I still call them Lobster Bees, it's what my wife yelled out the first time she saw one.

  7. I've been noticing these guys so much more lately. They are very nice and look so soft I wish I could touch!

  8. Do you know the species name for these guys?
